The best way to use Diet Rx
Diet Rx was formulated with the understanding that different people would
require different dosages. Therefore, the number of capsules that are helpful in
reducing appetite range from 1 to 4. Please discuss with your health care provider whether
Diet Rx or any over the counter diet product is appropriate for you before you
take the capsules.
On your first day start with 2 capsules in the morning on an empty
stomach about 20 minutes to an hour before breakfast. If you are over the age of
55 or are sensitive to herbs start with one capsule. On subsequent days you can
increase your dosage to 2, 3 or 4 capsules depending on your response. The third
and fourth capsules may be taken before lunch, or the third capsule can be used
before lunch and the fourth in mid to late afternoon. You will find that Diet Rx
will give you a slight to moderate energy boost which you can use to take a good
20 minute to an hour walk each day.
Those who have used Diet Rx report that they feel full
eating less food. If you try Diet Rx, we hope you get the same benefits as most
of the other users. If you plan to use Diet Rx, try not to
mix it with too many other supplements that you are currently taking. It is
often a good idea, when you take a supplement you have not used before, to first
learn how it makes you feel by itself as opposed to mixing it with a number of
other pills.

Diet Rx Contains
Green-Tea-Extract - Studies show green tea extract results in an increase fat
oxidation and in energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism). Green tea
contains various antioxidants, including
EGCG. Green tea extract also increases
energy. The benefits come from an interaction between caffeine and EGCG).
Hoodia extract - Hoodia gordonii has a compound called P57 that works directly
in the brain to help reduce appetite. For thousands of years the bushman of the
Kalahari Desert in South Africa have been chewing on
hoodia to stop hunger,
while they were on hunts or journeys, where there was little of no food
available to them.
Glucomannan konjac extract - Glucomannan helps to satiate and provides good
management of blood lipid and carbohydrate status along with providing fiber for
optimal bowel movements.
Ginger root - Ginger has been recognized for its medicinal properties for
thousands of years. Ginger is added to herbal formulas to help relieve nausea
and gastrointestinal side effects. Studies in rodents show ginger is involved in
maintaining healthy levels of blood sugar and cholesterol.
Cinnamon root helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
Garcinia Cambogia Citrimax - Hydroxycitric acid is derived from the Malabar
tamarind tropical fruit (Garcinia cambogia) native to India.
Hydroxycitric acid
has been found to inhibit mitochondrial citrate lyase, leading to decreased
acetyl coenzyme A production and decreased fatty acid synthesis.
Bitter-Melon helps with blood sugar control and increases lipid oxidation, or
fat burning.
Apple Cider vinegar is obtained from the fermentation of apple juice which leads
to acetic acid.
Apple pectin is a healthy fiber that helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
Choline is a nutrient that converts into acetylcholine. Choline increases the
mobilization of fatty acids. Choline is needed for efficient fat metabolism.
Inositol combines with choline to assist in fat metabolism.
Carnitine or L-Carnitine is a main ingredient in many diet pills and
supplements. L-carnitine is found in an enzyme complex (carnitine
acyltransferase I, carnitine translocase, and carnitine acyltransferase II) that
helps transport long-chain fatty acids across into the mitochondria where fatty
acids can be metabolized efficiently.
Pomegranate is full of antioxidants that helps reduce damage to the inner lining
of blood vessels.
Psyllium is a fiber which absorbs water within the gut, causing increased
satiety and lower caloric intake. Psyllium is also helpful in keeping healthy
blood sugar and lipid levels.
Cayenne has capsaicin helps regulate blood sugar levels by affecting the
breakdown of carbohydrates after a meal.
Coleus forskohlii contains forskolin which increases Cyclic AMP thus influencing
membrane transport proteins and increasing fat metabolism..
Guggul can help a sluggish thyroid gland and help the body to burn calories more
efficiently. Guggul also helps manage cholesterol levels.
Inulin is from the chicory plant. Inulin is a prebiotic fiber that helps reduce
food absorption but improves mineral absorption, including magnesium and
calcium.
Grapefruit extract - different grapefruit constituents influence intestinal and
liver lipid transport and metabolism.
Alpha lipoic acid is one of the most powerful antioxidants
Acetyl-l-Carnitine helps maintain attention and focus so you can think clearer
5-HTP converts into serotonin so you can have more will power and be less
impulsive in your food choices.
Chromium picolinate is a trace mineral that helps reduce sugar cravings and
regulates appetite by stabilizing blood sugar levels.
Q. How many mg of 5-htp are in Diet Rx?
A. This is a proprietary blend and is not revealed in order for
competitors not to copy this successful formula.
What Diet Rx does not have
Diet Rx has no added caffeine,
yerba mate, ephedra or ephedrine
alkaloids,
gucoxanthin, synephrine, guarana or stimulating amino acids. Users do not feel
jittery and restless. Rather, many people report feeling more balanced with a
more focused mind. Caffeine has not been
added to Diet Rx although green tea extract has small amounts of natural
caffeine. Caffeine use may lead to anxiety, irritability, nervousness and sleep
disorders for some users. However, most people who like the effects of
caffeine, normally drink a cup or two of coffee a day which provides 100 to 200
mg of caffeine. Those who drink two or more cups of coffee may wish to take one
less capsule of Diet Rx. For instance, if four capsules of Diet Rx normally
works for you, take 3 capsules if you plan to drink 2 or more cups.
Side effects
Diet Rx side effects: No major side effects of have been
reported except for appetite suppression. If you are sensitive to herbs, limit
yourself to one capsule a day. Diet Rx may give you extra
energy and it is a good idea to use up this energy by taking a walk daily for at
least 20 minutes.
Q. I wanted to mention a Diet Rx side effect I
experienced after taking this product non-stop 2 capsules a day for three
months. I started feeling fatigued. When I stopped the capsules, within a few
days my energy came back. Now I am taking one capsule a day and that is perfect.
I fee appetite suppression without side effects. I love the benefits I have
experienced.
A. It is a good idea to take a week off after each bottle is
finished. Initially 2 capsules a day may be required, but, for long term use,
one capsule a day is sufficient. This way Diet Rx side effects would be
minimized.
Q. I am writing because I am active duty military,
and looking for something to help me lose weight when needed. I am recovering
from a medical injury, and therefore was not able to work out in a while so
gained weight. I was wondering if anyone offers free trials or something I can
try and I will take accurate records and get back to you? I am very skeptical of
new diet products and therefore hesitant to try new diet and weight loss items.
I will surely tell all of my friends about this Diet Rx product and the local
gym on Fort Gordon here if your product works.
A. The link at the top of the page offers a free sample of Diet Rx.
Beta blockers
I have recently been prescribed 5mg/day of Bystolic for my blood pressure
(170/100). My rise in pressure is directly related to my weight. I was injured
last year and gained 25 lbs concomitant with my rise in BP. The doctor states
that I might be able to reduce or eliminate my need for meds if I lose the 25-30
lbs. Is diet Rx safe to use with Bystolic which is a beta blocker?
Many factors are involved, besides the use of medications, in
determining safety of a supplement when taken with a medication. It is not
possible for us to know for sure what kind of interactions there would be, if
any, between the medication and this diet pill. To be on the safe side, if your
doctor approves, it is best to begin with one capsule a day and then to see over
the next few days how your blood pressure is influenced, if any.
Diet Rx with statin drugs
for cholesterol
Q. I take Simvacor (statin) for high cholesterol. Simvacor. Manufacturer:.
Lindopharm (Germany). Active ingredients:. Simvastatin. The Simvacor package
insert says do NOT consume grapefruit while taking Simvacor.
A. Grapefruit extract has different substances than that found in
grapefruit. Since those who take Diet Rx most often eat less, you may ask your
doctor if he or she thinks to reduce or temporarily stop the statin drug dosage
while taking Diet Rx.
Diet Rx and caffeine
Q. I am very sensitive to any caffeine. I get Restless Leg Syndrome from any
caffeine--even in regular tea, cocoa, chocolate, regular cola, regular coffee,
etc. Perhaps your main product description should specifically state that Diet
Rx contains caffeine if indeed it does contain caffeine.
A. There is no added caffeine to Diet Rx. This product does have
some green tea which may contain a small percentage of caffeine. However, Diet
Rx is taken first thing in the morning and any potential caffeine effects should
be worn off by mid to late afternoon.
Diet Rx testimonials
Q.
I have been taking Diet Rx for one week now. I have noticed that I do not feel
hungry. The biggest difference that I noticed though is no night time snacking.
I never go to bed before 2:00am and usually start my evening snacking around
10:00pm I must clarify that what I call a "snack" other people call a meal. I am
not fond of sweets so therefore my "snack" is something meaty (pork chop,
chicken
breast or steak) or a sandwich or two with all the trimmings. I have not even
thought about having something to eat in the evenings since starting Diet Rx. I
tried a diet pill once before in my life but did not like it because it gave me
an awful nervous feeling and fast heart beat. I don't feel anything like that with this diet
product. In one week I lost three pounds.
Q. My 60 year old secretary comes into work today looking fabulous and says that since she’s been taking Diet Rx she has lost eight lbs in about 2 weeks. She is a real testament because not everything works on her. She says that she hasn’t really been hungry during these two weeks and no urges for sweets either. A year ago her doctor put her on a prescription diet pill and after six months there was no change in her weight.
Q. I find myself eating a lot less, with little desire for food. Before I was starving all the time. It surprises me that it lasts all day, including through the evening. I have lost a total of 7 lbs within two weeks. No side effects, no life style changes. This is wonderful. I am amazed how I do not think about "late night snacking" Wow.
Q. My husband lost 8 pounds in less than two weeks by taking 2 capsules of Diet Rx in the morning and one capsule before lunch. He is thrilled since he can wear his old pants again. People have noticed already. Before he started taking Diet Rx, he was 212 pounds.
Q. Recently I have been exploring supplements to
reduce sugar level and other diabetes-related issues. I also ordered Diet Rx,
alpha lipoic acid, and benfotiamine. In the last few days, I have been taking
one Diet Rx capsule a day. Pleasantly my morning sugar level has come done below
112 consistently in the last few days. This morning it was at 91! It never used
hover around 127 and 140 before that irrespective of what I took to control it.
There is something magical in Diet Rx for me. I will do more experiments and let
you know.
Follow up a few days late: I do not eat too much; I am not fat; I
take Diet Rx since it has the ingredients that are beneficial for diabetes
condition ( banaba, fenugreek, cinnamon, bitter melon, chromium, etc.) along
with R-alpha
lipoic acid. It appears that one Diet Rx capsule is more than enough for me.
Even if I do not take a capsule for a day or two, morning sugar level stays
below 120. I am trying various neutraceuticals to control neuropathy and
diabetes. I would say I am having something almost like a cure with a
combination of CoQ10, R-alpha lipoic acid, Diet Rx, benfotiamine, etc.
Glucophage is not enough, and I do not take it. I will keep testing this
neutraceutical approach for
some more time and compare the blood test results along the way. The morning
sugar level coming below 120 is something surprising. The morning sugar level
and evening sugar level happen to be nearly the same on some days; it was never
that way for several years before these experiments.
Diet Rx questions
Q. I love the Diet Rx product but I do take additional spirulina each day.
Therefore, I was hoping you could tell me either how much is in each serving or
at least what the percent Daily Value is? Hopefully you will not feel this is an
invasion of your proprietary formula as I would like to continue to take Diet Rx
product but do not want to overdose on spirulina.
A. The amount of spirulina found in Diet Rx is significantly less
than that obtained from a tablet or a scoop of spirulina. There is no percent
daily value for spirulina. We do not feel there is a problem with excess
spirulina intake through Diet Rx supplement use.
Q. Can you please tell me the amount of 5-htp contained
in Diet Rx? I would like to try both but don't know if I'll need to take
additional 5-htp if there's a considerable amount in the Diet Rx - which i would
like to order by the end of the month.
A. We can't say exactly how much 5-HTP is in Diet Rx, but we
suggest you first just take one supplement at a time. Most people find the
benefits of Diet Rx to be so positive that they don't need to take other pills
at the same time. We have not had users of Diet Rx report that they need to take
any additional 5-HTP.
Q. Can you tell me about Diet Rx how it works and can
you take Diet Rx with Prozac.
A. Diet Rx has several ingredients that work together to suppress
appetite so you eat less. We have not tested it with Prozac, but if your doctor
approves you can start with one capsule a day of Diet Rx. If you need to
increase to two capsules, your doctor may suggest reducing your Prozac dosage by
a quarter or half. Each person is different on how they respond to medicines and
herbs and we can just give general information that you can discuss with your
doctor for the best option. Many people report Diet Rx helps with mood balance
and energy.
Q. I was interested in purchasing the product, Diet Rx.
I needed to know how much 5htp is in a serving.
A. We can't say exactly since it is a proprietary blend, but the
amount is small.
Q. I am not sure if other women have reported this, but
after 3 weeks of taking Diet Rx, my menstrual cycle was shorter and not as
discomforting.
A. As of December 2007, we have had two other women report the fact
that their menstrual cycle was not as discomforting and lasted a day or two
less.
Q. I would like to try the Diet Rx product but would
like to know the fiber content. Whenever I have tried products for cleansing
containing psyllium I always get bloated, but there are so many wonderful
supplements in the Diet Rx formula I am tempted to ignore it.
A. The amount of psyllium is small and no one thus far has
complained of bloating from taking Diet Rx.
Q. Could you send me the quantities of the ingredients
in Diet Rx? I need to know how much carnitine etc. is in the serving so I know
whether I am getting in a day.
A. Diet Rx is a proprietary blend. Dr. Sahelian formulated this
product. Since he is very well known as an expert formulator, many companies try
to copy his formulas and thus we keep the dosages as a proprietary blend which
is allowed by the FDA. All we can say is that the amount of carnitine is very
low.
Q. I just wanted to say that this Diet Rx product looks
really interesting but I wish that there was no 5-HTP and grapefruit extract.
5-HTP upsets my stomach and it causes a problem with the medication I take.
Grapefruit also interacts with a number of medications. I would definitely
purchase Diet Rx product if it weren't for those two ingredients.
A. We emailed and asked Dr. Sahelian's research staff. They said he
had considered all of these issues and the final product with the mix of herbs
and nutrients does not cause the concerns you have.
Q. I was just wondering if you take the Diet Rx, do you
also get some of the mood enhancing effects of 5-HTP?
A. Many Diet Rx users notice a balance in mood with some additional
extra energy.
Q. I'm currently taking prednisone for hemolytic anemia
to keep my hemoglobin at a decent level. Since taking, I'm doing alot better,
but weight gain has started to play a part in my life. My question, can I take
Diet Rx with prednisone daily?
A. We prefer people not take Diet Rx along with prednisone unless
the dosage of the prednisone is less than 5 mg. There could be overstimulation
with the combination.
Q. I experimented with Diet Rx at two capsules a day
and one capsule a day. I find that if I take one capsule a day, it takes 3 or 4
days before I notice the appetite suppression. If I take 2 capsules a day, it
starts working the second day. Is this what others have reported? When I take 2
capsules a day sometimes it gives me more energy than I need.
A. Yes, we have had feedback from users who find one capsule a day
works, but much slower. The majority of users take 2 capsules a day, and a few
need 3 or 4. There is a natural energy that comes on with 2 capsules that makes
people want to take a walk, or take a longer walk, which burns up more calories.
Q. My daughter that lives with me has had schizophrenia
since the age of 14. She is now 50 yrs old, and very obese. I am considering
Diet Rx program. As I understand it has appetite control, as my daughter has a
very large appetite. Please inform me if this could be helpful for her.
A. We don't have any feedback from users of Diet Rx who have
schizophrenia, so we don't know if it will be effective or how it interacts with
medications used to control this condition. If her doctor approves, you could
try a capsule each morning.
Q. My wife recently tried 4 of Diet Rx capsules and was
very pleased with the result. One of my daughters is very keen to give it a go
as well. I will order 10 bottles from you and even though this does not
constitute a wholesale order I would appreciate if you would let me know what
discount you would allow.
A. Please call the phone number listed on the
www.physicianformulas.com website and speak with a customer care person who will
help you. Most people are very pleased with Diet Rx.
Q. I am looking for recommendation on Mind Power Rx and
Diet Rx. Amino acid supplementation was recommended to me as I stopped smoking 4
or 5 weeks ago. I am feeling edgy at times. I eat a healthy diet and am trying
to walk a minimum of 30 mins at least 4 times a week. I do however want to not
gain any weight and preferably lose about 10 lbs. My first priority is being
"smoke free", while being calm and alert and to be slimmer. Can or should I take
Mind Power Rx and Diet Rx together? Are there cautions in this?
A. We suggest learning about each one separately for a week and not
combining them, they are both potent.
Q. Just letting you all know that I am so excited about
the products formulated by Dr. Sahelian. I just ordered the Diet Rx for my
husband. I want to take them myself but after reading the ingredients I found
out that it has "grapefruit" in it and that is the one thing that my
"transplant" medicines says that I can't have. I will take your list and see if
my doctor will look at them and see if the "grapefruit" content is a small
enough amount that it won't matter. Are there any new break throughs for
"Transplant (kidney) recipients. I have gained 60 pounds since I had the
transplant 2 years ago and I am on four blood pressure medicines. Thanks in
advance and I am hoping this will be a good answer for my husband...for us both
the Diet Rx help for him and the Passion Rx for the both of us.
A. We suggest not taking more than one Diet Rx capsule a day in
those who are taking medications. Passion Rx is potent and should probably not
be taken by those on blood pressure medications or those with heart conditions
unless if the dosage is limited to a third of a capsule no more than 4 days a
week.
Q. I would like to try the Diet Rx diet pill, but am
currently taking Sam-e (100 mg twice a day) and 5 HTP (200 mg twice a day)
I see that Diet RX has 5 htp. How much is in the Diet Rx? How should I
incorporate the Diet Rx with the other two supplements, sam-e and 5 htp?
A. We suggest learning how each supplement works by itself before
combining. The amount of 5-HTP in Diet Rx is small compared to 5-HTP pills, but
there are many other herbs and nutrients in Diet Rx. Sometimes taking too many
supplements can cause side effects.
Q. I have always had a problem swallowing pills whole
so I normally chew them up. I ordered the Diet Rx but I noticed it had psyllium
in it. Am I going to be able to chew this product?
A. Rather than chewing we suggest you open the capsule by pulling
on each side, empty the contents in water or juice, and then drink it on an
empty stomach. Start with one capsule your first day.
Q. I am really interested in buying Diet Rx but I have
ibs, irritable bowel syndrome and take pills every so often, not on a daily
basis, just when I need to. And I take vitamins. I need to know if it is ok to
take please. I am also taking ginseng pills just because I heard that it helps
your fat turn into energy.
A. We can't advise anyone to take or not to take Diet Rx, but if
you were to take the Diet Rx we suggest you have approval by your doctor and
start with half or one capsule a day for a few days before increasing the
dosage. We also suggest not taking ginseng together with the Diet Rx since it is
preferable you know how the Diet Rx is working by itself.
Q. I am interested in trying Diet Rx. I have quite a
bit of weight to lose and it all sounds great, except for one aspect. One of the
positive effects states that it helps to lower cholesterol. I actually do not
want my cholesterol lowered. It is in perfect ranges: 60 HDL, 75 LDL, less than
25 triglycerides. It has been like this most of my life. Is there any
possibility Diet Rx could interfere with what is already healthy cholesterol
production? Could it make it go too low? If so, is there a different supplement
you would recommend?
A. We have no studies that show Diet Rx reduces cholesterol, but it
is quite well known that eating less reduces cholesterol levels. Whether this
will happen in your case is not easy for us to know.
Q. I am interested in the Diet Rx product, but I take
tamoxifen daily. Can I take them both?
A. Tamoxifen is an orally taken selective estrogen receptor
modulator used in the treatment of breast cancer. There are thousands of
medications that are prescribed by doctors and it is not easy to know how they
interact with natural supplements. Each person is different on how they respond
to supplements, medications, and their combinations. Much depends on the dosages
that are use. If your doctor approves you can begin with one capsule a few
minutes before breakfast for a few days and see how you respond.
Does Diet Rx have any calories, since it is sweetened I
was wondering because I am a diabetic.
This product is sweetened with stevia which has no calories.
