Mind Power Rx questions
Q. Last year I got a infection that went to my brain and caused 5 brain abscesses and 8 seizures in 5 hrs caused by the abscesses I am taking Keppra for the seizures till Dec then I can wean off it I have been told i can take vinopocetine do you think mind power Rx would be better to help the brain recover its left me with bad eyes and I get a bit agitated with my speech I am back playing tennis and lawn bowls and I am quite fit
   A. Keppra is an anti seixure drug for oral administration. It is difficult to predict a person's response to any particular supplement or a combination product such as Mind Power Rx. We can suggest your doctor take a look at the ingredients and discuss with you. We really can't give such advice since, for one reason, we don't know your full medical history and physical examination. Mind Power Rx is a very popular product with a high rate of reorder, but we don't know whether it will be helpful for you or how it would interact with Keppra.

Q. I am interested in purchasing Mind Power & Passion Rx products and I would like to know if I can take them at the same time, and how often and how long can I take these products during my lifetime. I am a male in my early thirties, athletic and very healthy. Currently I am taking Ginkgo Biloba by Radiance on a daily basis.
   A. Both Passion Rx and Mind Power Rx are potent products and we don't suggest using them the same day. Mind Power Rx can be taken 3 or 4 days a week while Passion Rx can be taken 2 or 3 days a week at half a capsule or so depending on how sensitive you are to herbs. It's a good idea to take a few days off each month from both and this way they can be taken for a long time as long as your doctor approves.

Q. Will Mind Power Rx supplement aid a person with Parkinson's disease ? Is there a special formula that may help control the symptoms of Parkinson disease ?
   A. There have not been any studies with Mind Power Rx in regards to Parkinson's disease. You may ask your doctor to read the research on this page in regards to Parkinson's disease option with natural supplements.

Q. I purchased Mind Power Rx for my son, who has brain injury causing memory loss and anxiety due to hypoglycemic episodes related to Type I Diabetes as an infant. I am not asking for a response specific to my son, but I did want to let you know, after only a couple of weeks of using Mind Power Rx ( and we started with a low one capsule dose, then worked up to three a day) my son started complaining of headaches and especially eye pain (dry, scratchy feeling) There were not other changes in his supplements (he is on the highest quality multi antioxidant mineral supplement, along with highest quality fish oil) and the pain and eye irritation went away when we stopped taking Mind Power Rx. I was wondering if anyone else had this effect.
   A. Most adults only need one or two capsule of Mind Power Rx a few days a week. Mind Power Rx was not meant for children. Three capsules a day is a very, very, large dose. Plus, the combination with the multivitamin could be way too much. The dosages need to be reduced significantly.

Q. I am a 17-yr old and I have some questions regarding Mind Power Rx. I have been having some thinking and memory problems due to extensive stress. This has been going on for almost a year now and I am hoping that this supplement will help me solve this problem. I was wondering if this supplement has any chance of addiction or dependencies? Is is safe to take this supplement with other supplements such as Centrum? And how long will it take for the supplement to start working and help me become more attentive and relieve my stress?
   A. We appreciate your email, however we cannot make any predictions on how Mind Power Rx supplement would work for you, and we would suggest either your parents or your health care provider become involved in the decision making process.

Q. Do you have any studies or feedback on Mind Power Rx increasing brain levels of dopamine levels?
   A. Certain nutrients and herbs in Mind Power Rx have been shown to increase dopamine levels by themselves, but we do not have clinical studies with this product to see what effect it has on dopamine or other neurotransmitter levels.

Q. I am currently thinking of purchasing two products that you offer - Mind power rx and serrapeptase. I would like to know if any of the supplements in your mind power rx formula can have a negative effect on me if combined with the serrapeptase.
   A. We suggest learning about each product by itself. One way is to take one product for week and see how that works, and then stop it and use the other one for a week. This way you can better tell how they are influencing you, and if you plan to combine, do so with medical approval, and initially use half a pill of each.

Q. I would like to know why the amount of Phosphatidylserine is not listed in the Mind Power Rx list of ingredients.
   A. Phosphatidylserine currently on the market is derived from soy and Dr. Sahelian does not believe it is as effective a mind booster as some of the other ingredients in Mind Power Rx.

Q. My son, age 7, is IgE allergic to dust mites, grasses, animal dander, wheat and IgG sensitive to gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, legumes and tomatoes. He has had sensory integration issues since his premature birth to an amphetamine addicted teenaged birth mother. His current challenges include proprioceptive and balance issues that are affecting his writing and some cognitive areas, visual processing and possibly auditory processing, yet he is still very high functioning within these limitations. He is also considered mild ADD but not yet diagnosed as his moods seems to change with response to allergens etc. Is Mind Power Rx product free of all of the above list of allergens? I noticed the Free of: yeast, wheat, corn, soy, milk, preservatives in your notation which helps greatly but am concerned with the other items listed. We have tried True Focus from NOW Foods before and have seen some improvements but it appears that Mind Power Rx product carries different ingredients. Do you have any comparative comments with that product and Mind Power Rx?
   A. We are not aware of any allergens in Mind Power Rx regarding the foods you mention. As to comparisons with True Focus from NOW Foods or other mind enhancing products, we have no idea. We believe we have a great product, and it we are quite certain that there are other very good products available for mind enhancement. The best way to find out is to try different products to see which one works best. Sometimes it is a good idea to alternate different ones.

Q. Has the product Mind Power Rx been evaluated concerning bipolar disorder? I noticed it contains several ingredients that I found recommended for this illness on other sites.
   A. Mind Power Rx has not been tested in cases of bipolar disorder, so we don't know.

Q. I was going through some of the questions listed on your website, and I came across one where I felt I related to. It was a medical student who was taking Mind Power Rx to help his memory. I too am a second year medical student, and I am going to begin studying for my USMLE Step 1 exams early next year. I wanted to take Mind Power RX hoping
it would help me stay awake in my prep course and help me get through the long days, and most importantly, improve my memory with all that material. Dr. Sahelian's response to that students question was that Mind Power Rx was formulated for an older age group, or better yet, memory would be improved in an older age group, and that memory is
optimal between 20-30 years of age. I am 26. Does that mean if I take Mind Power RX, I will be overstimulated (since Dr. Sahelian said memory is optimal)? What I am asking is would the supplement cause an additive effect that can deleterious? Also, can there be some sort of negative feedback that will make things worse? Is it better that I just get better rest and not take Mind Power Rx supplement (since my brain should be functioning at an optimal level and adding supplements could cause problems)?
   A. There are times when a person may need to be more alert and have better concentration, at any adult age, and for this purpose the occasional use of Mind Power Rx could be helpful. However, it is difficult to predict in any one person what the benefits would be. Bottom line, occasional use of Mind Power Rx even in those who are young could be helpful.

Q. I am currently taking 5mg of Cipralex daily for depression and hope to have the dose increased to 10mg per day for a few months, and then to come off it, but am struggling with cravings for sugars, decreased vision, chronic memory problems and an inability to focus my attention on things properly. As my nutritionist is a very open person, she will be pleased if I can bring new things to her attention, and I wonder if I could start taking your Eyesight RX and Mind Power RX supplementation? Will these be compatible or conflict with the Cipralex anti-depressant that I am taking?
   A. Each person is different in their response. If your doctor and nutritionist approve, you could take a Mind Power Rx capsule with breakfast one day, and half of an Eyesight Rx tablet the next day, and alternate their use with a day or two off a week.

Q.  I am interested in Mind Power Rx. Is it suitable for someone with epileptic or schizophrenic symptoms?
   A. Sorry, we don't have any feedback from users of Mind Power Rx who have a seizure disorder or Schizophrenia. We suggest anyone with these conditions have approval by their doctors. Many people with these conditions are taking pharmaceutical medications, and the interactions of medications and Mind Power Rx, or any herbal product, is difficult to predict.

Q. My 20-year-old son has been fighting chronic fatigue, depression and OCD for over three years. We finally found a product that helps him, but it's extremely expensive and hasn't completely eliminated his symptoms. I was just reading about Mind Power Rx and found it to have many of the same ingredients that are in the products my son is taking. I'm very tempted to switch him from his current supplements to Mind Power Rx, but I'm a bit nervous about it because I don't want to see him relapse. Are you familiar with the Neuro Research products, specifically Neuro Replete and D5 Mucuna, and do you know how they compare to Mind Power Rx. If I were to switch, do you have a suggestion of how to go about it to help eliminate major relapse?
   A. Sorry, we are not familiar with Neuro Replete or D5 Mucuna products. It is impossible to predict which formula a person will respond to without trying it.
