Vitamin A lotion for skin health and medical uses
Skin lotion with vitamin A (retinol) may help reduce wrinkles caused by natural aging and help boost production of skin-building compounds. Beta carotene lotion may help reduce symptoms of melasma, a skin condition that leads to darker skin color.
Anti wrinkle vitamin A lotion
Skin lotion with vitamin A (retinol) may help reduce
wrinkles.
In a study of 36 elderly people researchers applied 0.4 percent retinol lotion to an upper inner
arm of each participant and control lotion with no retinol to the other arm. The
lotions were applied up to three times a week for 24 weeks. Wrinkles, roughness and overall aging were reduced on the arms that received the retinol lotion compared with the arms that
received the control lotion. Skin biopsies showed increased production of glycosaminoglycan and
procollagen -- structural components of the skin -- on the arms that received
the retinol lotion.

Melasma
Efficacy of beta-carotene topical application in

B-carotene, a structural analogue of vitamin A, works as an agonist of this
vitamin, by reversibly sticking the chemical mechanism of melanogenesis by
saturating the nuclear receptors of melanocytes and/or binding protein. To study
the safety and efficacy of b-carotene lotion on topical application in melasma,
clinically diagnosed 31 adults. Topical application of b-carotene lotion appears
to bean effective and safe for melasma. Longer duration of application is
associated with better result.
